How do I contact TM Technologies for help?
-
A.
See the Contact Us section.
-
Q?
Are the system resources (i.e. CPU cores and RAM) truly dedicated?
-
A.
Yes, full CPU cores and RAM are truly dedicated and associated to YOUR system. There is no sharing of fractional CPU cores or fighting your neighbor for CPU cycles.
-
Q?
What is Live Vertical Scaling (LVS)?
-
A.
Live Vertical Scaling is a technology that allows you to add more CPU cores and RAM during operation, without having to restart.
-
Q?
Which Operating Systems support Live Vertical Scaling (LVS)?
-
A.
At the moment, LVS is supported by Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and CentOS.
-
Q?
What do I do if I can’t remember my root or administrator password?
-
A.
We do not keep a "master" account on our hosted systems for security purposes thus recovery may be quite complicated. Our suggestion is to create a robust password and user management plan to mitigate the possibility of being locked out.
Please contact us to discuss recovery options.

Q?
Will I continue to be billed if I shutdown my system?
-
A.
Yes and No depending on how you shutdown your system.
If you shutdown your system via the `shutdown` command or via the "shutdown" button, then your system will be turned off but billing will continue; think of this as more of a hibernate instead of a shutdown. The purpose of this is if you wanted to configure "Wake-on-LAN", however, this is not common.
The preferred method to shutdown your system and suspend billing is to contact us and have us administratively shut it down.
In either of the methods listed above, we must be contacted to turn your system back on unless you have specifically configured "Wake-on-LAN" and shutdown your system.

Q?
Can my allocated block storage (storage space) be reduced? I don’t need x GB/TB anymore.
-
A.
In short, No; once block storage has been allocated to your system it's yours whether you use it or not. We highly recommendation starting small and scaling up as more storage space is needed. Additional storage space can typically be added on-thy-fly to most operating systems without rebooting and then you can just partition the space and add it to your filesystem.
If you need temporary larger storage space we can add up to 8 separate storage devices with up to 2 TB per device for a total of 16 TB per server instance.
Contact us if you have questions or need assistance in system setup.
-
Q?
Can I connect a storage to multiple servers?
-
A.
No. However, you can use any network connection between servers without any performance loss.
-
Q?
How can I set up a firewall?
-
A.
You can activate a firewall for each NIC by contacting TM Technologies Support. We will need a detailed list to define which data packets you want to be allowed to pass and which are to be blocked. The firewall is only valid for incoming traffic to your server.
-
Q?
How does the Load Balancer work?
-
A.
The Load Balancer works with the Round Robin technology. Based on source address, sessions are directed to one of the backend servers.
-
Q?
How do I create reverse DNS entries?
-
A.
Please contact TM Technologies Support. They will handle the request ASAP.
